The Bach and Beyond Ensemble presents Telemann&rsquo s Concerto in D Major for 2 Oboe d&rsquo Amore, cello, and string orchestra at the DANK Haus German American Cultural Center on November 18, 2012. Artistic Director Scott Will leads the Ensemble in a program that also features treasures of Mozart, Bach, and Bruckner and Bibel.
This outstanding afternoon of Germanic works is a benefit concert with a portion of ticket sales dedicated to restoration of the large-scale painting of Kaiser Wilhelm I in the DANK Haus German American Cultural Center collection. The 6&rsquo by 9&rsquo oil was painted in Prussia c 1870 and framed in the elaborate gilded style of Chicago&rsquo s premier film houses. The piece has only been publicly viewed since 2009 and is in need of extensive restoration to its impressive frame, crafted by Chicago&rsquo s German wood carvers at the turn of the last century.
Tickets range in price from $12.00 to $20.00 in advance and are available for purchase online at www.brownpapertickets.com or by phone at 773.561.9181
