January 21, 2013
Join us in the University Guild Lounge of Scott Hall on Monday, January 21st at 1:30 pm to hear
Janet Messenger on the Streets of Evanston.
Janet Messenger has been researching Evanston history for years and writing about it since 2001 when she began a monthly column in the Evanston RoundTable called Once
upon a Time in Evanston. As the title suggests, she turns history into articles that read like stories.
Janet has also written two books about Evanston history, The Streets of Evanston (2009) and The ABCs of Evanston (2011), as well as a 2013 Evanston calendar saluting the city&rsquo s 150th anniversary.
Tea, coffee and cookies are served after the program.
The purpose of the University Guild is to bring to the membership of the Guild the intellectual resources of the University, to promote the interests of the University, to work for the collection and exhibition of the objects of art and to advance the development and appreciation of the fine arts in the University and in Evanston.
Annual Guild membership is $50. Membership is open to all in the community. Guests are welcome and the cost is $2.00 per program. The Guild holds meetings October through April.
The next program is on February 4th at 1:30 pm with Ryan Edwards and Geoffrey Edwards, father and son, teachers, authors and artistic consultants on &ldquo preparing, launching and sustaining an operatic career and more&rdquo !
