Featuring its traditional array of holiday crafts made by residents, bake sale items and a beautiful hand-decorated Victorian doll house complete with miniature furniture to be raffled, the annual Holiday Bazaar at Westminster Place of Presbyterian Homes will take place Friday, November 9, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 3131 Simpson (Golf Rd.) Street, Evanston, IL. Fleece blankets in local football team brand colors and other themes will also be available by raffle or silent auction.
Shoppers will find hand-dyed silk scarves, angels, snowmen, flower arrangements, potted plants, distinctive beaded jewelry, Christmas ornaments, knitted items, and homemade soup mixes. New items for sale include handmade aprons, soap and bath salts. Also, for the first time, artwork by local area artists will be available. Categories include jewelry by Janet Lewis and Ayla Phillips, art glass by Carie McKnight, mixed media by Sandra Peterson and photography by Harvey Tillis.
New also this year will be women&rsquo s clothing from TaylorMarie, a full service mobile retail store featuring name brands for the mature woman in sizes from 2 to 3X. Their lines include Alfred Dunner, Ruby Road, Erin London, Tribal, Southern Lady, Woolrich, Foxcroft, Karen Kane and Karen Hart. Clothes come in petite, misses and women&rsquo s sizes, beautiful yet fully wash and wear. TaylorMarie&rsquo s clothes will be available in the Caldwell Assembly Hall and the company accepts all majorcredit cards, cash and personal checks.
Other holiday shopping opportunities include on-campus shops run by the Woman&rsquo s Board of Presbyterian Homes. The Depot is home to treasures ranging from practical housewares to fine-quality art objects and antiques. The Furniture Warehouse offers a wide variety of quality second-hand furniture.
The Thrift Shop sells quality men&rsquo s and women&rsquo s second-hand clothing, footwear, and accessories, and the Book Nook will welcome shoppers interested in gently-used hard cover and paperback books, most for a dollar or less. Proceeds from these shops fund a wide range of projects supported by the Woman's Board at Presbyterian Homes, among which are the chaplain-intern program, the campus bus, and staff nursing scholarships.
Lunch will be available for $7.00 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Geneva Place Dining Room and in the Westminster Place Dining Room. Tours of the campus will also be available. No outside vendors. For more information, please contact Nancy Ichinose at 847-492-4872.
