Details | STITCH Magazine, Northwestern University''s premier fashion magazine, is planning to hold a half-day workshop for middle schoolers and high schoolers interested in fashion and journalism. The event will be an open content-making day, culminating in finished content for distribution via online outlets, social media, and print. Our focus in our programming is to teach participants how to create their own stories. More specifically, we want to demonstrate how to tell a story through content creation. This stems from our idea that we want to teach participants how to make social media a more positive outlet for storytelling and self-reflection rather than just an unhealthy source of peer pressure. So, our program will be focused around having each participant produce their own personal narrative editorial piece with a topic of their choice, as well as a photoshoot/design/multimedia project that connects with said personal narrative. Our final products will be online social media posts that participants can distribute on their own channels as well as an anthology of these mixed media projects (in print and online) that can be sent to the participants post-event. Food is provided! Event attendance is limited, so please RSVP here: https://goo.gl/forms/UsvQiXRqAd5gqsiL2 Contact Patricia Tang (patriciatang2020@u.northwestern.edu) with any questions. |
