The Evanston Police Department is investigating two incidents that occurred last night. The first incident occurred on at 10:53 p.m. on Aug. 21 in the 400 block of Keeney Street. The victim, a 33-year old male, told police he was walking on the sidewalk when he was approached by three men. The victim stated that one of the men produced a knife and demanded his property, said Commander Joe Dugan of the Evanston Police Department. The victim turned over a black backpack that contained his wallet, laptop computer, cellular phone and house keys. The suspects ordered the victim to walk away westbound, and they fled the area in an unknown direction. The three suspects are described as follows: male/black, 17-20 years old, 5'10" tall, all wearing dark clothing, all wearing bandannas partially covering their faces, said the Commander.
The second incident occurred at 12:10 a.m. on Aug. 22 in the 1800 block of Grey Avenue. The victim, a 58 year old male pizza delivery driver, was delivering a pizza to a home on the block when he was approached by a man, who demanded the pizza and victim's money. As the suspect began to pull out what appeared to be a handgun, a plastic piece broke off and the victim could tell that the handgun was not real. The suspect fled southbound in the east alley of Grey Avenue without any proceeds. The plastic piece was recovered by responding officers. The suspect is described as a male/black, early 20's, 6'0", 200 lbs., wearing a white sweater and blue jeans.
Both incidents are currently being investigated by the detective division.
