The City of Evanston is transitioning to a new Park Evanston mobile payment application for online parking payments. Look for new decals on parking meters and pay stations starting this month.
In addition to paying for parking, community members can use the Park Evanston app to:
- Extend their parking sessions remotely
- Keep track of their parking history
- Receive notifications
- Get email receipts
Starting in 2018, community members will also be able to use the Park Evanston app to purchase City parking permits and appeal or pay citations.
In addition to being able to use a credit card to load payments, customers can load cash on their mobile wallet at the City Collector's Office in the Morton Civic Center.
The current Passport mobile payment application will remain functional through 2017 with its current features. Cash and credit card payments may still be made at single-space meters.
Over the next few years, parking zones throughout the city will transition from the payment by parking space model to payment by license plate. This program is rolling out now on the 1500 and 1700 blocks of Sherman Avenue. On these blocks, customers can pay by plate at the pay station or via the Park Evanston app. Single-space parking meters are being removed on those blocks.
To utilize the new service, smart phone users must first download and register the Park Evanston app from the App Store or Google Play. Users can also manage their sessions at ParkEvanston.org.
