On April 8, the District 65 School Board formally appointed Concepcion Calderon as principal for Lincoln Elementary School. Ms. Calderon has been serving as interim principal since the retirement of Ms. McDermott earlier this school year.
“During her time at Lincoln, Ms. Calderon has engaged students, faculty and families with a commitment to building community. Her leadership helped ease a mid-year change for all Lincoln stakeholders,” said Superintendent Hardy Murphy.
Ms. Calderon’s background and experience include beginning this school year as the District 65’s Bilingual Curriculum Coordinator. Prior to joining District 65, she served as a middle school teacher at Calmeca Academy of Fine Arts and Dual Language in Chicago for two years, a bilingual lead teacher at Rodolfo Lozano Bilingual Center in Chicago for eight years. She holds a Masters in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education (2009), a Masters in Education from Northern Illinois University (2005) and a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Marketing form DePaul University (1991).
The appointment is effective July 1. Ms. Calderon will continue as the interim at Lincoln Elementary until the end of this school year.
