Mary Rita Luecke, a candidate for State Representative of the 17th District, issued a press release on Feb. 28 that alleges that the campaign of Candance Chow, a candidate for the same office and a member of the District 65 School Board, violated a School Board policy.
Ms. Luecke said that Gabe Frankel, the campaign manager for Ms. Chow’s campaign, sent an email to a District 65 employee at her work email address. The email said Mr. Frankel was Ms. Chow’s campaign manager, and that Ms. Chow “mentioned that you might be able to recruit some volunteers.” The email then listed some potential activities.
Ms. Luecke told the RoundTable that she thought the Chow campaign violated the provision of District 65 School Board Policy 2:105 that says, “No Board member or employee shall intentionally use any District property or resources in connection with any political activity.”
Mr. Frankel, told the RoundTable, “I inadvertently sent one person, who had expressed interest in volunteering in her free time, an email to that address. It was a mistake.”
