Oct. 26
10 a.m. – Noon • Preschool Halloween Party, Robert Crown Center, 1701 Main St. Games and prizes, play activities, face painting, balloons and more. Nutritious snacks. Participants in costumes will have treats to take home. 847-448-8258. Free.

6-8:30 p.m. • Halloween “HallaDaze,” Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St. Drop-in fun, games and live entertainment with a magic show, spooky clowns, exotic balloons, face painting and refreshments. Evanston children aged 4-12.  847-448-8254. Free.

Oct. 27
Bug-A-Boo Halloween Walk at the Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd. Non-frightening Halloween event themed “Alien Invaders,” suitable for ages 2 and up. $5/ person ($3/ person for EEA members). Registration and times: 847-448-8256.

10 a.m. – 2 p.m.Halloween Activities at North Branch Library, 2026 Central St. Three-to-seven-year-olds and their families are invited to drop in for the bone-chilling festivities: visit the Haunted Room: Mystery Boxes, Spooky Halloween Tree, scavenger hunt, mix-and-Match jack-o-lantern faces, Monster Mash freeze dance. 847-448-8600.

3-4 p.m. • Creepy Crafts at The Loft, Main Library, 1703 Orrington Ave. 3-4 p.m., The Loft, 3rd Floor, Main Library. Youth in grades 6-12 are invited to a program filled with freaky fun crafts that will make everyone scream – with delight, of course. Registration online, in person or by phone at  847-448-8625. 

Oct. 29
7 p.m. • Stories of the Undead and Zombie Walk in the Community Meeting Room, Main Library, 1703 Orrington Ave. The Library invites kids in grades 6-12 to put on their rattiest clothes, plaster on gory makeup and come for a night of ghoulish zombie goodness. First, a master storyteller will tell freaky tales of the walking dead. Then, in zombie gear and makeup, everyone will creep down the street for the first-ever Evanston Public Library Zombie Walk. Cameras and friends welcome to this evening of the Undead.

Oct. 29 & 30
Fairy Tale Trail will be open Oct. 29, 4 to 7 p.m. and Oct. 30 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fairy Tale Trail at the Woman’s Club of Evanston, 1702 Chicago Ave., is a fully accessible, fantasy-filled labyrinth of multi-sensory activities. This non-frightening alternative Halloween experience is ideal for all children up to age 8. Children are encouraged to come in costume. The cost is $5 per person; tickets may be purchased at the door.

Oct. 30
6:15-7:30 p.m. Halloween Skating Party, Robert Crown Center, 1701 Main St. Skate in studio rink, free admission and free skate rental for those in costume. For safety, space is limited to the first 50 skaters. 847-448-8258.

Oct. 31 Halloween
On Halloween Day, children can trick or treat at the Library, while little ones can come in costume to enjoy morning storytime. At the North Branch (2026 Central St.), from 10:15-11 a.m., parents, caregivers can bring baby or toddler to sing, play movement games, and listen to books before free play with other little ones. School-aged children can visit the Main Library between 4 and 7 p.m. in costume to receive treats.

The City’s official trick-or-treating time is 4-7 p.m.

Oct. 31
7 p.m. • EPL After Hours Halloween Film Special: “Sleepy Hollow,” in the Community Meeting Room, Main Library, 1703 Orrington Ave. The curse of the headless horseman is the legacy of the small town of Sleepy Hollow. Constable Ichabod Crane delves into the quagmire of secrets and murder, secrets old secrets. (DVD 1999). Run Time: 105 minutes. Rated: R (for graphic horror violence and gore, and for a scene of sexuality).
