Community Conference Focuses on Older Adult Mental Health
The Centers for Disease Control estimates that 20% of people ages 55 or older experience some type of mental health concern, the most common of which include anxiety and mood disorders.

The Evanston Arts Council is issuing a call for artists to submit applications for “pop-up” temporary displays of artwork or performances of public art throughout Evanston this summer/ The Arts Council will provide three grants of up to $1,000 each for projects, which must take place between June 10 and Aug. 31.

Midnight Pig Tap Room, Evanston's First Self-Serve Beer Lounge, Now Open
A different kind of beer lounge, Midnight Pig Tap Room, opened its doors at 1557 Sherman Ave. on April 19. Created by the founders of Tommy Nevin’s for both the passionate beer lover and the novice, the Tap Room lets guests serve themselves from a central wall boasting more than 30 beer taps.

Evanston-approved food trucks have been invited to operate at Evanston’s two largest parks in order to support participants and family members attending youth athletic programs. Eleven businesses have indicated an interest in participating in this pilot program, which begins on May 5.

YEA! (Young Evanston Artists) Festival will return this year under new leadership, once again transforming Raymond Park at Chicago Avenue and Lake Street into a community wonderland celebrating youth art and creativity. The festival, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 19, is free to the public.
