The stands should be pink at the Evanston-New Trier basketball games Friday, Dec. 12 as the first 4,000 fans will receive pink “Rivalry for the Cure” t-shirts in support of the evening’s efforts to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the fight against breast cancer. “This may be the greatest rivalry in high school athletics, but tonight we’re trading in our school colors for one common cause. We want to see nothing but pink at Welsh-Ryan Arena,” said Evanston athletic director Chris Livatino.
Tickets will be on sale through noon on Dec. 12 in the Evanston High School athletic offices, 1600 Dodge Ave. Adult tickets are $10, and student/children tickets are $5; $5 of the adult tickets and $3 of the student tickets will go towards the fundraiser to support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.
“This is a way to support an important cause and enjoy a great rivalry at the same time,” said Mr. Livatino.
This is year eight of the high schools move to N.U. in order to accommodate the overflow crowds and give the athletes a chance to play at a college site. Games times are 6 p.m. for the girls and 7:30 p.m. for the boys. For more ticket information, call Ann Carra in ETHS athletics at 847-424-7299.
