The annual legislative breakfast was timed perfectly to coincide with the impeachment and conviction of Rod Blagojevich, Jonathan Perman said, to the delight of the nearly 100 attendees on Jan. 30. Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, State Senator Jeffrey Schoenberg, State Representative Julie Hamos and Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin – all Democrat elected officials who live in Evanston – attended the breakfast, sponsored by The Evanston Chamber of Commerce and AT&T. Mr. Perman, executive director of The Chamber asked the legislators to give advice to the new Illinois governor, Patrick Quinn. After general remarks about the year they had spent in Cook County, Springfield and Washington, D.C., the legislators each headed a small-group discussion about the impact of their work on Evanston and Evanstonians.
