The next RoundTable Artist’s Weekend will be April 24-26 at the Frame Warehouse,
814 Dempster St., and will feature the works of Nancy Fong.
The figures in Ms. Fong’s oil paintings are often captured in the midst of quiet, solitary activities. One catches a glimpse of them at a certain moment, deep in concentration, whether making a brushstroke or reading a book, putting on a necklace or throwing a bowl (pottery), and they seem to invite the viewer to step closer to watch or to listen.
Ms. Fong was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Chicago. She studied at University of Illinois at Chicago as a James Scholar where she received her bachelor of arts degree in studio arts. She teaches art in Oak Park and at Triton and Morton colleges. Her painting “Bajan Queens” is in the permanent collection of Oak Park Public Library. There will be a wine-and-cheese reception for Ms. Fong from 7 to 9 p.m. on April 24 at Frame Warehouse.
