The downtown farmers’ market, Evanston’s oldest, opened May 16, a warm and sunny Saturday. Although there were some early vegetables, the market’s first day featured more flowers than produce.
Three other fresh-food markets are coming to town. The West End Market, at the corner of Church Street and Dodge Avenue, is another Saturday market and is scheduled to open on June 6.
The Ridgeville farmers’ market, on Wednesdays, is scheduled to open on June 3.
On June 24 another midweek market will open at the McGaw YMCA, 1000 Grove St. It is scheduled to be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
