On June 2 at , officers assigned to the Evanston Police Department’s Neighborhood Enforcement Team, supported by 29 members of the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS), conducted a raid at 1731 Grey, said Commander Tom Guenther, public information officer of the Evanston Police Department.
Pre-raid intelligence determined that those having access to this residence could be in possession of various high-power weaponry, said Cmdr. Guenther. To increase safety, when officers breached entry doors they employed flash-bang devices to stun and surprise all interior occupants, said the Commander.
Once inside, police officers executed a search warrant and recovered ten pounds of cannabis. They also recovered one 12 gauge shotgun, one 9 millimeter handgun, one .25 caliber handgun, one .22 caliber rifle and one M-11 9 millimeter pistol, said the Commander.
Two men were arrested in connection with the search warrant. One, 20 years old, was arrested on charges of unlawful use of weapon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, and no Firearm Owners Identification Card. Another man, 25 years old, was arrested on charges of possession of cannabis and possession with intent to deliver, said the Commander.
