With 16 free concerts in four parks, Evanston‘s 2009 outdoor Starlight Concert Series offers a kaleidoscope of music that spans the summer. The free concerts will be held at 7:30 p.m. on select Tuesday and Thursday evenings, June 18 – Aug. 25. This year many of the guest artists have Evanston connections, including David Young, Ezra Furman, David Drazin and members of the band
South Boulevard.
The concert series kicks off with an evening of pan-ethnic party music by Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound on June 18, at James Park,
Mulford Streetat
Dodge Avenue. The other venues for the Starlight Concerts are Dawes Park, Church Street at Sheridan Road; Twiggs Park, Simpson Street at Dodge Avenue; and Harbert Park, along the canal just south of Dempster Street. Rain sites are the Levy Center, 300 Dodge, for James and Dawes Parks concerts, or the Fleetwood-Jourdain Center,
