ComEd has reserved $350,000 in “Smart Ideas for Your Business” program incentives for Evanston businesses and institutions and $12,500 in “Smart Ideas for Your Home” program incentives for Evanston condo owners, building owners, renters and property managers as part of the City’s participation in the ComEd Community Energy Challenge (CEC).

The ComEd Smart Ideas for Your Business program offers prescriptive and custom incentives to facilitate the implementation of cost-effective energy-efficiency improvements for non-residential (commercial and industrial) customers. To access the program incentives reserved specifically for Evanston, apply for the program directly through ComEd, no additional steps need to be taken.

The ComEd Smart Ideas for Your Home all-electric efficiency-upgrade program offers some of the latest energy-saving devices on the market, installed free of charge. To qualify for this program, units must have both electric space heating and electric water heating.

Evanston is one of ten municipalities participating in ComEd’s Community Energy Challenge (CEC), a program designed to generate creative, locally-driven approaches to help communities meet their environmental sustainability objectives. The CEC runs from June 2009 through May 2010.
