NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) announced on Aug. 19 that physicians from the Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch (CINN) are joining into its system of care. “CINN physicians are among the most experienced specialists in the country treating patients with spine and brain conditions,” said NorthShore in a prepared statement. “They will continue to deliver their critical services in neurosurgical and neuromedical care complementing what is currently provided at NorthShore. The agreement is conditioned on obtaining appropriate government approvals and is expected to close by the end of the year.”
CINN was founded and is led by Leonard J. Cerullo, M.D., a board-certified neurosurgeon with more than 30 years of experience. Dr. Cerullo believes becoming a part of the NorthShore System will enhance the physicians’ ability to provide optimal care for their patients.
“NorthShore University HealthSystem is committed to investing in the technologies and programs necessary to deliver the safest and most effective treatment options for patients suffering from brain or spine disease,” Dr. Cerullo said. “We are eager to join NorthShore, and take advantage of these synergies.”
“Originally founded in 1987, CINN is one of the Midwest‘s largest teams of neurosurgeons, physiatrists and neurologists known for their pioneering treatments in minimally invasive techniques,” said NorthShore in a prepared statement. “Through a network of locations in the greater Chicago region, CINN is a leader in treating patients with brain tumors and spine disorders.”
The NorthShore Neurosciences Program, which has delivered services for more than 30 years, has been recognized in U.S. News & World Report as one of “America‘s Best Hospitals.”
