Local resource center National Student Partnerships (NSP) has changed its name to LIFT (not an acronym). The change comes as a result of increased desire among NSP volunteers, clients, supporters, and staff for a name more evocative of the organization’s mission and work.

On the local level, NSP-Evanston will become LIFT-Evanston. Building on NSP-Evanston’s ten-year history of serving the Evanston community, LIFT-Evanston will continue to provide employment, housing, and public benefits services to area residents. The name change will not alter or affect the services currently provided.

“People new to the organization often expect that we only provide services to students or that we have student volunteers to place at other organizations,” said outgoing site coordinator Sarah Shubitowski. “With LIFT, it works on a national level, but LIFT-Evanston also more strongly emphasizes our deep connection and impact within the local Evanston community.”

More information about LIFT’s work and its transition from NSP can be found at www.liftcommunities.org.  For information about LIFT-Evanston’s services, call 847-491-6707 or e-mail evanston@liftcommunities.org.
