Dashaun Davy, 19, of 1736 Grey Ave., died of stab wounds on Sept. 8. The stabbing occurred in the 9000 block of Ewing Street in Skokie.

Deputy Chief Anthony Scarpelli of the Skokie Police Department told the RoundTable that Dashaun was riding in a car with four men, all of whom knew each other. An argument began, and the driver pulled the car over. The argument escalated, and it ultimately resulted in the stabbing, said the deputy chief.

When police responded, they found Dashaun on the ground. He was transported to St. Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A young man, 17 years old, from Skokie has been charged with first degree murder, and bond has been set at $300,000.

Evanston police commander Tom Guenther said since the incident occurred in Skokie, it was not within Evanston’s jurisdiction, and Evanston police would not investigate unless Skokie asked for their help.

Dashaun was a fifth-year student at Evanston Township High School, a spokesperson for the high school told the RoundTable.
