Dorothy Brown, current Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, campaigned in Evanston on Sept. 26 for the office of President of the Cook County Board, going door to door starting at the intersection of Dodge Avenue and Emerson Street. She says Cook County needs to properly fund the health-care system – which had a budget gap of almost a half billion dollars – without raising taxes. “I will show you that the day I am elected president the culture of corruption will be over and that reform, innovation, fiscal responsibility will be the new mantra,” she said in a speech last week. “I will be working to lower the sales tax and bring new ideas to funding our health care system and the entire Cook County budget. The County budget will never again be balanced on the backs of working families. Together, we will bring a new era of fiscal responsibility to Cook County.”
