Evanston fire investigators say the cause of a fire at an Evanston home at 2018 Dodge Ave. on Wednesday morning, Oct. 7, was most likely improper candle use, said the Evanston Fire Department in a prepared statement.
The Evanston Fire Department received a 911 report of the fire at approximately 8:50 a.m. Upon arrival, heavy smoke was reported on the second floor of the house. Firefighters entered the front of the house to contain the blaze. Additional firefighters provided search support and ventilation, along with salvage operations to protect the contents of the house from any additional damage from water.
The fire was struck at approximately 11: a.m.
