Local authors Karen Daughtry of Evanston and Darlene Nelson of Chicago are hosting a book launch event for their new children’s book titled “My Helpful Healing Touch: A Guide for Empowering Children.” The book-launch reception is free and open to the public, and will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 16 at the Open Studio Project art gallery, 901 Sherman Ave. This event is for the entire family, and in addition to book signing by the authors, will feature children’s games, art-making and music.
