A 71 year old lady was struck by a vehicle in the 1900 block of Sheridan Road at about 7 p.m. on Oct. 27. Witnesses told police that the lady was walking westbound across Sheridan road against the light, that a Mercedes Benz was traveling southbound on Sheridan Road near Foster Street within the posted speed limit, and that as the Mercedes continued south bound with a green light, it struck the lady as she walked diagonally across Sheridan road, said Commander Tom Guenther, public information officer, in a prepared statement. Weather conditions were reported as rainy, which could have been a contributing factor to this accident, said the Commander.

Evanston fire paramedics treated the woman at the scene and then transported her to a local hospital. Evanston police along with the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force- Major Crash Assistance Team jointly investigated this accident. The investigation revealed that neither the driver nor the pedestrian were impaired at the time of the accident, and neither party received citations, said the Commander.
