On Nov. 2, a citizen observed a man break the rear window to a residence in the 1200 block of Wesley, make entry and a short while later, exit the residence fleeing on foot. The citizen called police, with a description of the burglar.

Evanston police set up a perimeter and began a coordinated yard-to-yard foot search. While conducting this search, officers noticed a suspicious subject matching the offender’s description. The man was subsequently identified as the burglar. A safety pat-down of the offender was then conducted, which resulted in the recovery of burglary proceeds.

The offender, a 22-year old man from Lyons, was taken into custody and transported to the Evanston police department. The Cook County State’s Attorneys office approved one felony count of residential burglary.
