Maintaining its presence along Church Street and Orrington Avenue, Art Under Glass slipped under the viaduct to Maple Avenue, where additional creations by local artists brighten vacant storefront windows between Church and Davis streets. Biographical cartoons, paintings and mosaic creations now fill the empty windows.

When the Art Under Glass program was initiated in June, Jenny Rotheiser, co-chair of the Arts and Business Committee of the Evanston Arts Council, acknowledged the counterbalancing forces of expansion: The program is a great showcase for local artists; but it also underscores some of the economic problems in commercial areas.
