Evanston City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz announced the appointment of W. Grant Farrar as City Attorney/Corporation Counsel. Mr. Bobkiewicz also announced a re-organization of the City’s Law Department. Corporation Counsel Jack Siegel will now become Of Counsel to the City and Interim First Assistant Corporation Counsel Elke Purze will become Deputy City Attorney. 

Mr. Farrar is currently a partner at Bollinger, Ruberry and Garvey, a law firm in Chicago. According to his on-line bibliography Mr. Farrar began his career as a prosecutor in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office and prosecuted misdemeanors and public interest cases, and he has substantial experience in public and municipal litigation. At Bollinger, he specialized in construction litigation for industrial, commercial and residential clients involving all phases of the construction process.

Mr. Farrar was admitted to practice law in 1998 after graduating from John Marshall Law School. He resides with his wife and daughter in Evanston.

Mr. Siegel, who will be of counsel to the City, served as Evanston’s Corporation Counsel for 46 years.
