The City is holding its second community budget workshop on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Robert Crown Center, 1701 Main St.

“The first community budget workshop was well attended by the public, and City officials are looking forward to continued public participation in this open public process to help craft a budget that balances the needs of the community with the reality of lowered City revenues,” said City officials in a prepared statement.

“Based on projections, the City is facing an approximate $8 million deficit for the next budget year,” said the statement. “That is why City officials are holding these public hearings during the next few weeks so that residents will be able to meet with City staff to discuss options for balancing this budget.”

Thursday’s workshop will be the second of four planned meeting; the remaining two are scheduled for Nov. 17th at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Center and on Nov.30 at Council Chambers at the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center.
