On Nov. 19 parents, teachers, alumni, and friends celebrated a milestone in Chiaravalle history – the imminent purchase of the property at 425 Dempster St., the school’s cherished historic home.

Chiaravalle had leased space throughout Evanston since its founding in 1965, and since 1980, the school has been located in the former Miller School building at the corner of Dempster Street and Hinman Avenue, designed by Daniel Burnham in 1898.

Highlights of the the Chiaravalle Montessori School community celebration included the unveiling of a mural created by Chiaravalle families, faculty and alumni, remarks by Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl; and the launch of the public phase of the Campaign for Chiaravalle to raise $3 million in support of both  the purchase and the renovation of the property.
