Editor:

It is with great excitement that we announce our support for Robyn Gabel in her bid to represent Illinois’ 18th District.  We know that our friend Robyn will be a great leader in Springfield, and will continue the strong progressive tradition of Representatives Julie Hamos and Jan Schakowsky who previously held this seat.

For the past 20 years, Robyn has fought for increased access to health care for women and children as the Executive Director of the Illinois Maternal and Child Health Coalition.  She helped author the bill that created Illinois’ KidCare program, now the All Kids program, and the FamilyCare program – which have provided healthcare to 1.4 million children and their parents who didn’t have health coverage before.

Robyn worked to build the Chicago Women’s Health Center as a successful free clinic for low-income women.  She was a founding member of Women Organized for Reproductive Choice, an activist organization that fought against the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits federal funding for abortion.

As an advocate her entire career, Robyn has been persistent and tireless in her fights.  We are confident that she will continue to be a fighter, and will be a strong advocate for the communities of Evanston, Wilmette, Winnetka, and Rogers Park.

We ask you for your help in supporting Robyn in the upcoming primary election on February 2nd, 2010.  We she needs now are volunteers and resources in order to get her progressive message out to voters.

You can sign up to contribute or volunteer online by going to www.RobynGabel.com.

Rep. Sarah Feigenholtz, Illinois 12th District
Rep. Karen May, Illinois 58th District
