Over 80 YWCA Flying Fish swimmers competed with over 1,000 swimmers from 26 other teams from Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Minnesota in the Washington Township Holiday Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Nov. 20-22.

In the multi-state competition, the following swimmers achieved new team records: Ryan Knohl (Evanston) – 11/12 boys 50 free, 100 free, 50 fly, 100 fly; and Ryan Knohl (Evanston), Christian Stankovic (Evanston), Clay Hackley (Wilmette), Jake Girard(Evanston) – 11/12 boys 200 free relay.
 
Top 3 individual finishers: 
Jake Girard (Evanston) – 11/12,  50 breast(3rd ), 100 breast (3rd ); 
Ryan Knohl (Evanston) – 1st (200 IM, 50 free, 100 free, 50 fly, 100 fly), 2nd (200 free, 500 free), 3rd (100 back);
Blake Morgan (Evanston) – 13/14 1st (200 breast), 2nd (400 IM, 500 free); 
Cole Morgan (Evanston) – 9/10 1st (100 breast), 2nd (50 breast); 
Topher Shepherd (Wilmette) – 8 & under 1st (50 breast, 25 back, 25 free), 2nd (25 fly), 3rd (100 free, 50 back); 
Christian Stankovic (Evanston) – 11/12 boys 3rd (50 back). 

During the Nov. 13-15 weekend, eight Flying Fish High School boys participated in the USA Swimming Grand Prix Meet at the University of Minnesota: Max Behles (Evanston) , Keven Henley (Evanston), John McBratney (Evanston), Kyle Grant (Winnetka), CJ Smith (Wilmette), Grant Smith (Wilmette), Nick Killeen (Wilmette) and Blake Morgan (Evanston). 

The top 16 finalists in that event include:
CJ Smith -1000 free 7th (9:26.44), 400 IM 16th (4:10.39), 1650 free 8th (15:51.23); 
Nicholas Killeen – 200 free 13th (1:41.25), 500 free 7th (4:33.42); 
Max Behles – 200 free 14th (1:42.38); 
Kyle Grant – 200 back 16th (1:55.88). 

Relays: 
Killeen, Behles, Grant, and CJ Smith – 800 free relay 4th (6:55.32); 
Killeen, Behles, Grant, and CJ Smith – 400 free relay 5th (3:12.49); 
Grant, Grant Smith, Killeen, and Behles – 400 medley relay 8th (3:36.43). 
Three new team records were achieved – CJ Smith 1000 free, Nick Killeen 200 free and 500 free. 

With over 600 swimmers aged 6-18 from Evanston, Chicago, Skokie, Wilmette, Winnetka and surrounding communities, the Flying Fish swim team has become the largest swim team in Illinois and one of the largest teams in the country. To learn more, go to http://flyingfish.usswim.net
