Having spent more than 30 years in public service for the State of Illinois, including 18 years as a State Senator, not surprisingly I have some strong feelings about the kind of person who can represent us – all of us—in the Illinois legislature. Robyn Gabel is such a person and that is why I am supporting her for State Representative in Illinois’ 18th District. Robyn is intelligent, thoughtful, and deeply committed to making government work where it is needed and can be effective.
For the past 20 years, as the Executive Director of the Illinois Maternal and Child Health Coalition, Robyn has been a tireless advocate for improving the lives of Illinois mothers and children. She has fought to increase health care coverage and quality, to build the Chicago Women’s Health Center as a successful free health clinic for low-income women, to expand student health centers in schools, and to preserve a woman’s right to choose. Her tireless work in this area has helped to assure that every child in Illinois now has access to health coverage and health care. And she understands that this goal is sustainable only when the state is fiscally sound and growing.
The most effective representatives in public office are those who genuinely care about the people they are representing and their issues—and see their time in office as an extension of their own life’s mission. Robyn Gabel will serve us well and get the job done.
Please support Robyn Gabel in the primary election on February 2. Thank you.
