Democracy for America, a nationwide political action community, has endorsed Jeff Smith in the Democratic primary for State Representative in the 18th District as one of “five candidates from the Chicago area that will help clean up Springfield, help clean up Chicago and fight for reform at all levels of government.”
In their endorsement, national chair Jim Dean wrote, “Jeff Smith is a Chicago native, a longtime local DFA member, and a progressive activist who follows talk with action. He’s running the only type of campaign he knows how — one that’s run at the grassroots level with boots-on-the-ground support from volunteers.
“Jeff has shown that he’s a real progressive, ready to put the rubber to the road and speak truth to power. He’s been a great voice in the Chicago area and he’ll be a great voice for the Chicago area in Springfield.”
DFA was founded by former Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean in 2004. Dr. Dean’s brother, Jim Dean, became chair when Dr. Dean assumed chairmanship of the DNC in 2005.
