On Jan. 27, Antoine Bouzi, a twenty-year old Evanston resident, was sentenced to serve 35 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on two concurrent counts: attempted murder of a peace officer, and discharge of a firearm, said Commander Tom Guenther, chief information officer of the Evanston Police Department. Mr. Bouzi will have to serve 85% of his 35 year sentence, said the Commander.

Mr. Bouzi was charged with firing two shots from a sawed-off shot gun at a police officer on July 29, 2008, after police responded to a disturbance at the 1800 block of Brown Avenue, said the Commander. Mr. Bouzi was found guilty of attempted first degree murder of a peace officer and related charges on Feb. 27, 2009, said the Commander.
