In the Democratic primary election, some contests at the local level are for state representative from the 18th District, for Cook County Commissioner from the 13th District and for several judgeships.
Five candidates, all from Evanston, are vying for the Democratic nomination for state representative from the 18th District in the general election: Robyn Gabel, Eamon Kelly, Patrick Keenan-Devlin, Edmond B. Moran Jr., and Jeffrey Paul Smith. Two candidates are facing off for Cook County Commissioner: John Michael Keefe and Larry Suffredin. Numerous candidates are seeking positions for judge of the appellate court and circuit court.

In the Republican primary, at the local level two candidates are seeking the Republican nomination for the 9th Congressional District: Susan Atanus and Joel Barry Pollack.
