Two Evanston men, ages 18 and 25, have been charged with felony counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, after allegedly firing at an occupied car on Feb. 6 at about 1:50 a.m. in the 2200 block of Emerson Street, said Commander Tom Guenther, public information officer for the Evanston Police Department.
On Feb. 6, police received reports of shots being fired in the area of Emerson Street and Laurel Avenue, said the Commander. A short time later, three persons came into the Evanston police department and reported that persons they knew shot at the car they were traveling in, striking it twice. Once obtaining this information, Evanston police were able to locate and detain the suspects.
Police learned that earlier in the evening there was a house party in the 1700 block of Dodge Ave. that was attended by the victims. According to witness accounts one of the suspects came into the party and brandished a handgun, said Cmdr. Guenther. Persons attending the party quickly left the residence; and the victims drove off in their car, said the Commander. A short while later, the victims noticed that the suspects pulled up next to them in the 2200 block of Emerson Street, said the Commander. For reasons unknown to the victims, the suspects then fired two shots, striking the door and rear of the car, said the Commander. After being fired upon the victims drove to the police department to report the incident.
