Tucked away in the excitement of the McGaw YMCA’s 59th Brillianteen production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at King Lab School, March 5, 6, 7, and March 12 and 14 is another gem. The Brillianteen Alumni Revue will be presented on March 13, with performers from shows past in an all-star line-up.

Headliners include Nancy Gustafson, internationally acclaimed opera singer who got her start in the Brillianteen production “Brigadoon.” Ms. Gustafson is well-known to area audiences and has thrilled audiences all over the world. She says Brillianteen was her first opportunity to learn how to deliver dialogue.  Performing with Ms. Gustafson is Michael DeVries, currently in the Broadway cast of “Wicked.” Bill Geiger, CEO of the McGaw YMCA, and Anne Gilford, director of the Alumni Revue, will be back to reprise their roles as Big Jim Warrington and Little Mary in “Little Mary Sunshine.”

Mr. Geiger said the Brillianteen production is one of the Y’s proudest efforts. “This is much more than the students on the stage singing and dancing their hearts out. Youth are running the lights, setting up the ticket structure, doing press releases. … It’s the complete package in terms of the leadership experience and one that very few of them ever forget.
