Based on information acquired over an extended period of time, the Evanston Police Department’s Neighborhood Enforcement Team set up surveillance of a garage in the 1600 block of Monroe Street on March 24. At approximately 8:50 p.m. officers observed a vehicle of interest leave the garage, with two female occupants. Officers followed the vehicle and made a traffic stop in the 3600 block of Main Street in Skokie.
Police noticed a large object wrapped in a garbage bag within the vehicle. Subsequent investigative efforts resulted in the recovery of approximately nine pounds of marijuana from the vehicle, said Commander Tom Guenther, public information officer of the Evanston Police Department, in a prepared statement.
Further questioning of the driver led to the recovery of an additional half pound of marijuana, which was recovered from her rented garage, said the Commander. The driver, a 25 year-old woman, was charged with felony counts of unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, said the Commander.
