Now in its second year, the Evanston-based 2010 Talking Pictures Festival, May 6 – 9, celebrates independent films from around the world mixed with offerings by local filmmakers. From Oscar nominated shorts to hard-hitting documentaries and imaginative fiction films, this year’s four-day festival features 18 full-length films and five programs of shorts, including regional premieres from the US, Japan, Israel, Canada and Georgia/Kazakhstan. Festival venues include NEXT Theatre at Noyes Cultural Arts Center, Hotel Orrington’s Hinman Theater, Century 12/CineArts 6 (opening Nnght only), and the Evanston Public Library.
