School District 65 dedicated a new mural by Paul Barker in the lobby of the Joseph H. Hill administration building on May 3. The new 23 x 15 foot mural, “Into Their Own Light,” is of children and conveys a theme of children moving into a bright future with infinite possibilities.
Pat Markham, Secretary of the School Board and Director of Communications for the District, together with her husband Ken, donated funds to cover the cost of the mural. She said she sees the mural every day when she comes to work, and it stands as a testament that the District works to prepare a diverse group of students for their future.
Mr. Barker, a nationally recognized muralist, is also the creator of “Evanston 2020” which he painted at the Custer Street Fair and which was dedicated at Haven Middle School in February.
