Evanston broke open a 3-1 game with 4 runs in the 5th inning and Jordan Crawford and Matt Carmichael held New Trier to 2 runs as the Wildkit Varsity team defeated New Trier 7-2 at Northwestern University. Crawford pitched 6 innings giving up only 2 runs and Matt Carmichael shut the door for the final 3 outs. New Trier got on the board first in the 2nd inning. The Kits tied it in the top of the 3rd when Kenny Horwat singled in Noah Doppelt (2 for 3) who had reached with a bunt single. Evanston scored twice more in the 4th behind Doppelt’s RBI single and a throwing error on a pickoff play. Evanston broke open the game in the 5th behind Trevor Forde’s (2 for 4, 2 RBI) 2 RBI single and consecutive sacrfice flies by Matt Felvey and Ameer Cannon. Evanston moves to 17-9-1 and 9-3 in the CSL.
