The Arts and Business Committee of the Evanston Arts Council will showcase the quality and range of Evanston’s performing arts community at the first BackStage Evanston, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sept. 12 in the Wallace & Struble Theatres at Northwestern University’s Theatre and Interpretation Center, 1949 Campus Drive.

More than a dozen performing arts organizations will present sneak previews of their 2011 season’s offerings. “This is a wonderful opportunity for organizations to show off their amazing talents,” said Penny Rotheiser, co-chair of the Arts and Business Committee.

Participating organizations include Actors Gymnasium, Evanston Dance Ensemble, Evanston Symphony Orchestra, Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre, Light Opera Works, Next Theatre, Piccolo Theatre, Piven Theatres, The Lakeside Singers, Music Institute of Chicago, The Musical Offering, North Shore Choral Society, Northwestern University’s Theatre and Interpretation Center and Theatre Zarko.

For each $20 admission, the attendee will be given a $20 voucher that can be exchanged for a special offer of equal value from any BackStage organization. Event-only discounts for subscriptions and tickets will also be available from
all participants. Delectable food from some of the City’s finest restaurants will accompany the performances, along with a cash bar.

Tickets can be purchased by credit card, call 847-328-2204, or visit www.backstageevanston.com or at the door.
