Take Charge of Your Health,” a free six-week seminar open to all older adults who want to learn to thrive, not simply survive, with chronic health conditions will be offered. The seminar runs  from 9-11:30 a.m. on Thursdays, August 24 – September 28 at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center.

This interactive series of workshops uses the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program developed by Stanford University. Trained class leaders help participants learn to cope with any fatigue, frustration, pain or isolation that may be related to ongoing health conditions. Class members also learn about exercise; nutrition; medication use; communicating with family, friends and health professionals; evaluating new treatment options and problem-solving around their ongoing health conditions.

This interactive series of workshops is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Administration on Aging via the Illinois Dept. of Public Health. Please register for the six-week series at the Fleetwood Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St., 847-448-8254.
