For Banned Books Week 2010, The Loft’s teen theatre troupe, the Bodacious Oracles of Knowledge, will present a stage adaptation of “The Sledding Hill,” a story about censorship, freedom, ghosts and courage by acclaimed author of young adult books Chris Crutcher. Featuring an ensemble cast of teen actors, musicians, and crew, this challenging, provocative production will embody the troupe’s slogan, “Theatre with a Spine.” The play will be presented at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 2 and 3 at The Loft in the Main Library, 1703 Orrington Ave. The play is recommended for those aged 10 and older. The suggested donation at the door is $5.

Mr. Crutcher will join the cast and crew after the Saturday afternoon performance for a discussion about censorship.

Auditions for “The Sledding Hill,” to be held 6-8 p.m. on Aug. 5, are open to actors 12-18 years old with particular interest in male actors. Audition times may be scheduled by e-mailing theloftepl@gmail.com. No preparation is necessary, and everyone who shows will be cast.

Crew is open to anyone who wishes
to participate. Those interested in performing or being involved in any way may e-mail the production’s director at
