The Youth Job Center of Evanston understands that jobseekers often need additional support when searching for employment. A comprehensive resource fair will be held at the Evanston Public Library, August 12, 2:00-5:00 PM. It will provide access to a variety of useful connections and systems of support including reliable childcare options, access to affordable housing, assistance with establishing sound credit and/or erasing bad credit, information on post-secondary training and education programs, securing financial aid and more.
“With the unemployment rate at 9.5%, it’s important for jobseekers in the Chicagoland area to be fully prepared and job ready when looking for employment,” says Employer Outreach Coordinator Jordan Burghardt. “This resource fair will help prepare jobseekers in all areas of the job search process – securing childcare, obtaining financial literacy, finding out about industry-specific training, whatever their specific situation calls for.”
The fair will have additional informational resources from: IDES Unemployment Office, IL Veteran’s Services, LIFT Up Evanston, Asian Human Services, Chicago House, Jane Addams Resource Corporation, Easter Seals, and many more! Refreshments will be served and it’s open to the public – all are welcome to attend.
The Youth Job Center of Evanston prepares youth ages 14-25 for success in the workplace through job-readiness, placement and employment support in partnership with employers.
