A 19-year-old Chicago man was charged with robbing an Evanston man in the 800 block of Brown Ave. at 1 a.m. on Aug. 20. The suspect and an accomplice approached the 22 year-old Evanston man while walking west on Main St. near Dodge Ave, said Commander Jeff Jamraz of the Evanston Police Department. The suspect placed his hand under his waistband as if to imply he had a weapon while the accomplice snatched money from the victim’s hand as he removed it from his wallet, said the Commander.
Officers saw the suspect not far from the scene and detained him while other officers continued their search for the accomplice. The suspect was identified and later charged, said the Commander.
