A 32-year old Evanston man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for burglary to a motor vehicle. The man was apprehended on Nov. 22, 2009 after police responded to a call that a man was attempting to enter parked vehicles. After locating the man, police conducted a safety search and found an I-Pass transponder which had been taken from a vehicle, said Commander Tom Guenther, public information officer of the Evanston Police Department. Further interviews were conducted with the man which substantiated his direct involvement in the burglary of the vehicle, said the Commander.
The man was sentenced by Judge Axelrood at District II Court in Skokie on Aug. 13, said the Commander. In addition to the prison sentence, he was finded $725.00.
