The first Evanston/Skokie PTA Council meeting of the 2010-11 school year is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Joseph E. Hill Education Center, 1500 McDaniel Ave., Evanston. Meet the new PTA Council president and join other PTA Council reps to plan for this year’s activities.
The PTA Council is the umbrella association for all school PTAs and PTSAs in the area served by School Districts 65 and 202. Council member schools include elementary, middle, and magnet schools; Park School and Evanston Township High School. The Evanston/Skokie Council is an active member of District 21 of the Illinois State PTA, which allows for the exchange of ideas with other PTA councils in north suburban Cook County and around the state.
The primary functions of the Evanston/Skokie PTA Council are: 1) to gather and disseminate information among member PTAs from local, district, state and national PTAs, from the school boards and district administrations, as well as from other sources; 2) to provide for networking and the exchange of ideas; and 3) to produce parent/community programs.
