Steve Funk, Libertarian candidate for 18th District State Representative, said in a prepared statement that he has filed the required paperwork to be an eligible write-in candidate in the Nov. 2 general election.

“Voters in our district deserve an independent choice for State Representative,” Mr. Funk said.  “For the third election cycle in a row, there will be only one candidate on the ballot to vote for to represent us in Springfield.”

Robyn Gabel, State Representative for the 18th District, is the Democratic Party candidate on the ballot.

Mr. Funk was removed from the ballot by the Cook County Electoral Board after an objection was filed challenging many signatures on his nominating petitions.  Mr. Funk filed an appeal in circuit court, but Judge Robert Bertucci sustained the Board’s ruling to keep him off the ballot, said Mr. Funk.
