In addition to all of the great benefits of being an Evanston Library card holder, any person who has never had a card before who signs up for a library card during the month of September will receive a coupon for either a free DVD rental at EPL, a free cone from Andy’s Frozen Custard, or a cookie from Whole Foods.
“It’s the smartest card to have, particularly in this challenging economy,” said library director Mary Johns. “Not only do we have books, CDs and downloadable e-books and audiobooks for free, you can also access our magazine, newspaper and reference book subscriptions online at no charge from home at any time of night or day. If you have already have a card, encourage your neighbors and friends to get one and make sure your children have them too,” she added.
Library cards are free to Evanston residents, Evanston non-resident taxpayers, Evanston businesses and teachers in Evanston schools. Eligible residents and taxpayers may obtain a library card by taking a photo ID showing an Evanston address to any of the three Evanston Public Library locations: 1703 Orrington Ave., 949 Chicago Ave. and 2026 Central St.
